THE SCIENCE
Did you know that no muscle in the body fires without a nerve telling it to? Dysport®, Daxxify®, and Botox® decrease muscle activity by decreasing the amount of the protein that allows nerves to talk to muscles. When the nerves stop telling nerves to fire, the muscles respond by weakening. This allows existing wrinkles to smooth out and prevents more wrinkles from appearing. The degree to which the muscles weaken depends on our metabolism and the amount of product used.
WHY NOW?
These injections are non-surgical and non-invasive treatments performed in about 30 minutes or less, and there is almost zero downtime. Results are typically seen in two to seven days and will reach full effect in two weeks. Depending on the product used, the amount used, the wrinkles themselves, and your metabolism, results last between three to six months. More product can extend the length of the results.

HYPERHIDROSIS
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterized by excessive sweating beyond what is necessary to regulate body temperature. It can affect various parts of the body, including the face and scalp, the palms, and the underarms. Living with this condition is often traumatizing. The trauma can cause severe anxiety and embarrassment (ironically, anxiety can also be a cause and/or make it worse).
Hyperhidrosis often significantly limits a person's ability to live their lives the way they want to. Many people simply withdraw from activities completely, both those they enjoy and those that they could enjoy except for their excessive sweating. There is no cure, but there are treatments available that can help manage the symptoms and improve quality of life.
Neurotoxins, such as Dysport® and Botox®, are non-invasive, safe, and very effective treatments for hyperhidrosis. Don't let hyperhidrosis hold you back from doing the things you love!
THE SCIENCE
Did you know that the sweat glands in those areas affected by hyperhidrosis are only found in certain areas of the body? They even have a special name: apocrine glands. Dysport® and Botox® work by blocking communication from the nerve to the glands. Just like with muscles, they do this by decreasing certain proteins. In this case, with less communication, there is less sweating. Unlike other neurotoxin injections, which are targeting muscles, these injections target the skin, which is where the apocrine glands live.
THE PROCEDURE
The neurotoxins must be diluted much more than they usually are and the injections themselves are much smaller, much more numerous, and cover a much greater area. The procedure takes about an hour.
IS THERE PAIN?
The injections range from annoying (underarms and scalp), mild to severe discomfort (face), painful to very painful (palms). Patients generally do not need any numbing for the underarms or scalp but use numbing cream for the face and ice for the palms (the skin is too tough for numbing cream to work). For anyone with a low pain tolerance, we may have nitrous oxide, a strong inhaled anesthetic also known as "laughing gas".
WILL IT WORK FOR ME?
Most patient are very happy with their results and their results tend to last about 6 months. As with any injection, however, results are a combination of the product, the amount used, and the patient's own metabolism and physiology.
