Deoxycholic Acid & Kybella®
Deoxycholic Acid and Kybella®
Deoxycholic Acid and Kybella® (non-generic Deoxycholic acid)
Deoxycholic acid is known as chemical or non-surgical liposuction. It diminishes moderate to severe accumulated
fat cells quickly and safely. Originally developed to reduce a “double chin”, this treatment improves the appearance of excess fat. Double chins are often hereditary and result from excess water and fat storage in the chin area, but can also result from aging or weight gain. Deoxycholic acid is versatile because it can also be used in areas including the armpits, bra line bulge, love handles, or abdomen. This injectable is administered into the fat beneath the chin or anywhere you have excess fat, giving you a slim and firm appearance.
Advantages:
More youthful appearance
Safe, effective, and nonsurgical
Customized treatments
Permanent results
Science (How does it work?)
When deoxycholic acid (a naturally occurring chemical in your body) is injected into a treatment area, it
dissolves the fat cells in that area. Those particles are then gradually flushed out of your body. In a clinical trial, 82.4% of
patients reported significantly improved satisfaction with their appearance. Did you know that when these fat cells
are treated, they can’t reproduce? This means that once you accomplish your aesthetic goal, no further sessions are necessary!
The process:
Because we are dissolving fat cells and there are thousands to hundreds of thousands of them in the
areas we treat, there is no way to dissolve all of them in 1 session. In the original study, patients returned 4-6 times
and used anywhere from 2-6 vials each time. We have never used 6 vials at a time and none of
our patients needed to return for so many treatments. That does not mean it could not happen.
As with any product, results vary and we have no way to predict them.

*Allegan ran out of Kybella® for about 5 months during Covid. We used the generic instead and found that the generic works as well if not better than Kybella® at a fraction of the price.
